Introduction

My name is Erin M. Sampson and I am a third year Kindergarten teacher at Woodville Elementary. Hopefully this letter and the corresponding records I have included will give you an image of the type of person and professional that I am.

I am originally from Pompano Beach, Fl, but I have been living in the Big Bend area for 7 years. My move to Tallahassee came in August of 2002 after graduating in the top 20% of my class at Blanche Ely High School. During my high school years, I held a part time job at Kmart while serving in the following extracurricular activities: Battalion Commander of JROTC (the highest ranking and commanding officer of 265 cadets), Clarinet Section Leader of the Marching and Concert Band, praise dancer of my local church, and community volunteer at the Blanche Ely Education Museum and the Bethel Community Development Center. Coming from a much disciplined family, I was always taught and expected to strive for excellence and give my all in whatever profession or endeavor I pursued. Education was always the most important aspect in my life, thereby inspiring my decision to study education at Florida A&M University.

After four years of lesson plan development classes, how to teach reading classes, classroom management training, ethics classes, field clinicals, numerous essays/case studies, and student teaching; I finally graduated Magna Cum Laude in December of 2006. My graduation was an accomplishment to both myself and my family because it proved that with determination, discipline, hard work, creativity, and integrity; I was able to achieve my goals.

In May of 2007, I attended the Leon County Teacher Interview Day and was later asked for my second interview with Woodville Elementary School. I believe that my love of teaching, professionalism, discipline, and overall demeanor impressed the administrators and therefore led to my hire at Woodville Elementary in August of 2007.

In my time of teaching at Woodville, I have developed a feeling of loyalty, respect, and adorations for all of my coworkers and students. I genuinely care for the overall well being (academically, socially, and physically) of my students. Even when I am not in school, ideas of how I can help my students or improve myself professionally are constantly on my mind. It is my strong belief that “My students will not care to learn until they know that I care”- Unknown”

Recently my husband and I welcomed the birth of our first child, a daughter named Brielle.
